Just when it seemed this renovation might never get its wings, we suddenly found ourselves in a flurry of activity—and the good kind this time. (Not like last month’s espresso machine meltdown and freezer failure. That was… a different kind of flurry.) No, these last two weeks were all joyful, “What is even happening right now?!” levels of progress. During a snowy week, no less. Go figure.
Last Wednesday was our first day back after a snow day—already an adventure—and then it greeted us with the discovery of a freezer that had decided to give up on life. Not ideal for the morning rush. But we carried on, and the universe must have noticed, because that’s when the magic began.

First came the insulation crew. Then the plumbers. A little while later, a shower was delivered—one that absolutely, positively refused to fit through the door and therefore took up temporary residence on the deck right in front of the coffee shop’s big window. Naturally, this invited a whole parade of questions and some delightful small-town speculation because it was quite a sight!

But the day wasn’t done surprising us. As I rounded the corner to head home, there it was: a giant crane lifting sheetrock into the sky and sending it straight through the new second-floor fire escape door like something out of a renovation-themed superhero movie.

And if that had been everything, it would’ve felt incredible. But no—then we passed the insulation inspection, and the drywall has been flying up ever since. Walls! Actual walls! Be honest… did you start to wonder if any of those steps were ever going to happen? Me too.
There’s so much more to come, and we’ll share details as they unfold. But for now, let’s just enjoy a downright wondrous couple of weeks.
And to you—our cheerleaders through every twist and turn—thank you. Thank you for your encouragement through the good days, the tough days, and the “is this ever going to get done?” days. Whether you’re an everyday regular, an almost-everyday regular, or a once-a-week treat-yourself regular, this renovation truly belongs to you. Your love, your patience, your pep talks, and your coffee shop visits are what keep this whole thing moving.
We couldn’t do any of it without you. And dare we say… it looks like we might finally be inching toward the really, really fun part. 💛
